FAQ

How is BMI calculated?
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height² (m²). A BMI of 18.5–24.9 is considered normal weight according to WHO guidelines.
How is ideal weight calculated?
This tool uses the Hamwi formula as a base and displays the weight range that keeps your BMI within 18.5–24.9.
Is the body fat estimate accurate?
The body fat estimate is derived from BMI using the Deurenberg formula. It is an approximation. DEXA or hydrostatic weighing are more accurate methods.
Are results stored?
No. All calculations run in your browser. No data is sent to any server.

What Is BMI?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body size based on height and weight. WHO defines a healthy BMI as 18.5–24.9. Values below 18.5 indicate underweight; 25–29.9 is overweight; 30 and above is obese.

What Is Ideal Weight?

Ideal weight is the weight range that corresponds to a BMI of 18.5–24.9 for your height. This tool calculates your personal range using the Hamwi formula and the healthy BMI boundaries.

Body Fat Estimation

Body fat percentage is estimated using the Deurenberg formula: BF% = (1.20 × BMI) + (0.23 × Age) − (10.8 × sex) − 5.4. This is an estimate; clinical methods are more precise.
