FAQ

What coverage rate should I use?
Most interior emulsion paints cover 8–12 m² per litre per coat. Check the label on your paint tin for the manufacturer's figure.
How many coats do I need?
Two coats are standard for good coverage. Dark colours or bare walls may need three coats.
Does the calculator include doors and windows?
No. Subtract the area of doors and windows from your total wall area before entering the value.

How to Calculate Paint for a Room

Measure the width and height of each wall, multiply to get the area, then subtract openings. Multiply the paintable area by the number of coats and divide by the coverage rate on the tin to get the litres you need.

Why Use a Paint Calculator?

Buying too little paint means an unwanted trip to the shop mid-project. Buying too much wastes money. Our calculator tells you exactly how many litres — and how many cans — to buy.
